Town History & Heritage
Originally settled as North Crandon during the logging boom of northern Wisconsin, the town was officially renamed Argonne in 1921 in honor of the World War I Battle of the Meuse-Argonne. Located in the heart of Forest County, Argonne retains a rich heritage tied to forestry, rail transportation, and traditional Northwoods living.
